Helping your child transition into a childcare setting

Leaving our children in the care of another person is usually a challenge, especially when our darlings cry and reach for us as we leave for the day.
Try this for children of an age where they'll understand your words: bring along a sweater, handkerchief, a laminated photo of you and hand it to your child as you leave. "Put this is a safe place so we can get it when I come back."
For infants, bring their crib blanket along but keep it wrapped around your shoulders as you drive to the childcare center. It will pick up a scent from you and when you leave it with your baby, it offers reassurance and comfort.
